April, 2017

I have always wanted to visit this part of Europe so when a land tour became available at a reduced cost, Pat and I decided it was time to do it.  We included an extension for Venice.

We fly into Venice and the tour company has a bus waiting to transfer us to our hotel (Grand Hotel Adriatic) in Opatija.  We meet our tour guide and have dinner with the group.

Opatija

We will spend two nights in Opatija.  The day after we arrive we will tour the Istrian Penisula (Pula).

Our guide takes those of us who are up to it on an afternoon walk in the area of Venice around our hotel.  She points out local (non tourist) restaurants where we might want to eat dinner.

Venice

Mike and Pat in Venice on the obligatory gondola ride.

Our tour guides both on the bus tour and in Venice were great.  They both deserved and got good tips.
