Bled
April, 2017
We arrive in Bled late in the afternoon after touring Ljubljana, the capitol of Slovenia. We will spend 2 nights in Bled. Bled is a town on Lake Bled in the Upper Carniolan region of northwestern Slovenia. It is located on the southern foot of the Karawanks mountain range in a region also known as the Julian Alps near the border with Austria, about 31 mi northwest of the state capital Ljubljana. A small island in the middle of the Lake Bled is home to Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church; visitors frequently ring its bell for good luck. Bled Castle is a medieval castle built on a precipice above the city of Bled in Slovenia, overlooking Lake Bled. According to written sources, it is the oldest Slovenian castle and is currently one of the most visited tourist attractions in Slovenia.
