I have always wanted to visit this part of Europe so when a land tour became available at a reduced cost, Pat and I decided it was time to do it. We included an extension for Venice.
We fly into Venice and the tour company has a bus waiting to transfer us to our hotel (Grand Hotel Adriatic) in Opatija. We meet our tour guide and have dinner with the group.
We will spend two nights in Opatija. The day after we arrive we will tour the Istrian Penisula (Pula).
From Opatija we travel to Split. We will spend one night in Split at the Radisson Blu Resort.
Next we go to Dubrovnik, known as the Pearl of the Adriatic. We will spend 3 nights in Dubrovnik.
From Dubrovnik we will take a day trip to Kotor in Montenegro.
Next we go to Zagreb. Zagreb is the capitol of Croation an its largest cith. About 25% of Croatia's population lives in and aroud Zagreb. We will spen one night in Zagreb.
Next we go to Bled in Slovenia. On our way to Bled we will stop and tour Ljubljana, the capitol of Slovenia.
We arrive in Bled later in the afternoon. We will spen 2 nights in Bled.
We leave early in the mornig for Venice. We arrive at the airport, meet our local tour guide, and take a water taxi to our hotel. We will spend 2 nights in Venice.
Our guide takes those of us who are up to it on an afternoon walk in the area of Venice around our hotel. She points out local (non tourist) restaurants where we might want to eat dinner.
Mike and Pat in Venice on the obligatory gondola ride.
Our tour guides both on the bus tour and in Venice were great. They both deserved and got good tips.
