Lanzarote 2014

The first stop on the cruise is Lanzarote, one of Spain's Canary Islands.  The island receives just over 4 inches of rain a year.  Even so, they manage to grow grapes for wine production.

The grape growing region of Lanzarote is pictured below.  Notice the protections from the dry wind.  These also allow the nightly dew to be retained as moisture for the grapes.
