Canary Island Cruise

February, 2014

In the summer of 2013, Pat and I started looking at taking a trip.  We were looking for something unique and somewhat off the beaten path.  After some research, we found a cruise to Spain's Canary Islands leaving from Barcelona with stops at Casablanca in Morocco and Malaga in Spain.

We mentioned our plans to some friends and they thought this looked interesting and said they would come with us.  So we got everything planned and took off on our trip.

We flew into Barcelona.  As part of the cruise, we would spend two nights in Barcelona with an introductory tour to the city.  The most impressive site we saw was the Sagada Familia.

After our brief stay in Barcelona, we board our cruise ship, Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Spirit.  Our first stop on the cruise is Lanzarote, one of Spain's Canary Islands.  This island is very desert like with minimal annual rainfall with just over 4 inches of rain a year.

The second stop is Tenerife, another of Spain's Canary Islands.  This island is larger and has a greater amount of rainfall.  It is much greener than Lanzarote.Tenerife.htm

The third stop on this cruise is Casablanca.  This is my first time in Africa and can't wait to see Rick's Cafe.  Before arriving at Casablanca, the cruise showed the movie Casablanca.

The fourth and last stop is Malaga on the southern coast of Spain.  On this stop, our friends will do a separate excursion from the one we are doing.

And a couple of pictures of us and our friends on this marvelous trip.

Grace was our favorite attendant.  She had good humor and provided excellent service.

And our cruise ship.
