Topkapi Palace

The construction of the Topkapi Palace began in 1459. It is a complex of buildings and gardens. The buildings contain hundreds of rooms not all of which ae open to the public. In the 15th and 16th centuries it served as the residence and administrative headquarters of the Ottoman Sultans. Today, it serves as a museum.
