Mobile and New Orleans
New Orleans - Early 1980's
In the spring (around St. Patrick's Day) of 1982 (I think), we, as a family, took our first mini vacation to New Orleans. As I recall, that driving through Louisiana was a challenge. The sun was shining, but there was 3-6 inches of water over the road. Houses were islands in the water, livestock were isolated on little rises in the ground. We drove several miles like this on this road. This was before the interstate was finished from Shreveport southward. We stayed at a hotel on the edge of the French Quarter. We had a good time.
