Mobile and New Orleans
In September, 2001, Pat and I took a 6 day vacation to Mobile and New Orleans. This was in lieu of a planned trip to Spain and Portugal that was cancelled due to the terror attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. We left on Sunday (9/23) and returned to Dallas on Friday (9/28). We stayed at the Ramada on Battleship Parkway in Mobile. The hotel was clean but was in serious need of renovation. In New Orleans we stayed at the Hotel Provincial in the French Quarter. While the Hotel Provincial itself consists of several old buildings, the room we had was very nice, furnished with antiques. This hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Bourbon street and 2 minutes from Jackson Square. We spent the 24th and the 25th in Mobile and the 26th and the 27th in New Orleans.
As a family, we also had mini vacations in New Orleans. There are some photos from a visit in the early 1980's as well.
